What Have We Gained

Losing faith in false debates,
what have we gained in this senseless war?
Our soldiers await their fate,
Trapped in Iraq,
dying in vain.

No trace was found of a nuclear threat;
why are we there on their sovereign soil?
Whose pockets are getting lined?
The stakes are high, trading blood for oil!

Saddam is gone – the world has changed
And Rumsfeld, too, who set the stage
The arrogant strategy — a turning page
human pyramids
in a cage.

With appalling images
Of Abu Ghraib
In the name of Bin Laden
We toppled Iraq.

Relentless architects of war
firing up hatred through the Arab states;
what have we gained playing the cowboy?
We want our brave ones
back home on the range.
