Set Free
By Tatiana Pahlen

Trotting along the beach,
pausing to snap vintage shots
of posing newlyweds;
Paradise found on Dominican soil
Under palm shelter.
Smooth wind in my face
clears my soul,
My feet moving faster,
avoiding the waves and ornate sand castles
Built to last till the tide sweeps over.
Passing the monarch butterflies,
I’m ready to embrace the universe;
In the sweet name of Liberty
Once lost and found anew by Dr. Paul,
whose words engraved
on my T-shirt I’m wearing
to spread his message:
The rights to Bear Arms!
I feel liberated at last.
My frame is sailing, set free.
