Assimilation
By Tatiana Pahlen "A seed shall follow its own kind"
[Genesis]
Why
the roots of the exotic trees planted
warmly with sun and breeze, Before
reached the joy of growth stretched
their seeds on a foreign earth? Their
lumpy limbs a playground for doves lengthen
shadows cover awkward coves There's

from Eden, as if Adam and Eve. Yet
believing in the wondrous myth, they
usher in the rest of their kith; Passing
their lore from bough to bough To vanquish
the tides with
their tribal howl. May
