A Legendary Hero of Donbass

A year has past, since you were gone, Givi,
The whole Donbass came to pay tribute.
Your obelisk was drown in a sea of flowers
Your charisma and courage will live in our hearts
As the legendary warrior whose attributes
Will be written in the history books..

When the Ukrainian mines flew over your head
You remained collected and cool.
Smoking a cigarette, checking your phone,
Not reacting on the blasts and fog,
When most of surroundings ran for the cover
You smiled, saying, ‘so what?’

The bullets and mines were avoided you,
Your face never displayed fear.
You were the commander of ‘Somali‘ battalion
Respected by your army and sworn foes.
You didn’t touch alcohol, but loved dark Indian tea,
And smoked too much to stay alert.

You were humorous and full of life,
Looking like a young Clark Gable.
A mortal rocket was sent to your office
You instantly died from the hands of your guards
Which were infiltrated from Ukrainian forces
Wickedly betraying your ultimate trust.

A year has past, since you were gone, Givi,
We will always remember your courageous smile
Excuse me if my words are too trivial
In our hearts you are forever alive.
Hoping in heaven you were united with Arseny –
The Commander of “Sparta,” your best pal.
